This is an all day classic NRA Basic Pistol Shooting Course. This class teaches the basic knowledge, skills, and attitude for owning and operating a pistol safely. This class is recognized and required in many states before applying for a CCW permit. 

Requirements: Most pistols/revolvers, 50 rounds of ammunition, hearing protection, eye protection, brimmed hat, closed shoes.  If a pistol/revolver are not available to you, Shedhorn Sports would be happy to provide one for you upon request. 

Topic: This is an 8-hour course and includes classroom and range time teaching basic pistol shooting skills. Class will begin with lecture and class time at Shedhorn Sports in Ennis, and will conclude at the SASS Range outside of Ennis with range time.

Students will learn:  NRA’s rules for safe gun handling. Identifying pistol parts, operation, and ammunition. Shooting fundamentals Range rules and safety procedures. Shooting from two handed standing position. Cleaning the pistol. 

Students will receive:  The NRA Guide to the Basics of Pistol Shooting handbook. NRA Gun Safety Rules brochure. Winchester/NRA Marksmanship Qualification booklet. Basics of Pistol Shooting Student Examination. Course completion certificate.
